Kiyomi Iwata

February 28 – April 10, 2020
Opening Reception
Friday, February 28
6 – 8 pm

Reynolds Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of recent work by artist Kiyomi Iwata, opening Friday, February 28 from 6 to 8pm. The Thread is Kiyomi Iwata’s first solo exhibition with Reynolds Gallery, presenting small- and large-scale woven wall hangings created from “kibiso,” the first several meters of silk produced by silkworms which is traditionally viewed as refuse. Iwata transforms the raw material by weaving, embellishing and dyeing the kibiso to create intricate compositions simultaneously delicate, lively, and grounded in traditional Japanese aesthetics. The work will be on view through April 10, 2020.
