Friday, September 15, 7 – 9 pm

Please join us for the opening of two exhibitions on Friday, September 15 from 7 – 9 pm at the gallery. One side of the gallery exhibits Nell Blaine’s oil paintings and watercolors, while the other gallery side presents oil works by Biala and Louisa Matthiasdottir. The shows open Friday, September 15 and continue through October 27, 2017.
The exhibitions commemorate these female leaders of 20th century contemporary art across Europe and the U.S. Originating from Poland, Iceland, and Richmond, Biala, Matthiasdottir, and Blaine were unified by their Abstract Expressionist style, a keen eye, and fluid interpretation. With their own distinct styles, they captured scenes of rolling hills, floral bouquets, or a tile floor with simple brushwork and harmonious colors, imparting a sense of security and candor in the post-war age.
